SPURS SIGN CHADLI

After the signing of Paulinho was completed a few weeks ago, Tottenham have gone on and signed the Belgian winger Nacer Chadli for £ 7 million. This has taken the total spending at the club in the summer to £ 24 million. This is turning out to be one of the best summers for Tottenham fans because it is unusual for the club to spend such an amount of money. Manager Andre Villas-Boas, though, has stated that the club still has not finished with the transfer market and he expects a couple of players to arrive between now and the end of the window in a few weeks.

Tottenham could have easily taken their spending beyond the £ 50 million barrier had not been for the failed attempts to bring Christian Benteke to White Hart Lane. David Villa was also a huge transfer target for the club, but he decided to join Atletico Madrid. It seems that Villas-Boas is more determined to bring in a striker before the end of the transfer window, as he recently revealed that the club trying to bring Valencia hitman Roberto Soldado. He will cost in the region of £ 25 million, which is his release clause in the contract.

Tottenham are looking to finish in the top four for the second time in four years.

“We will continue to do our transfer business and we have not stopped yet, for sure. Chadli’s a player we’ve been following for quite some time and we managed to strike a deal in the last few days. He’s a player who is extremely versatile and can play in several positions up front. He played with tremendous success on the left for Twente as a winger and as an attacker for Belgium,” said the Tottenham manager, who stressed again that he wants to keep Gareth Bale.
