Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal lost a great opportunity

Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal lost a great opportunity to replace Manchester City as the Premier League leaders after the 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the Emirates stadium.

Since this was a home match for the gunners, they were fully expected to get a victory. Arsenal have always had the upper hand over Spurs when it comes to games at the Emirates stadium. There have been only a couple of occasions when Tottenham have returned to North London with something to show for their efforts.

Even though Mauricio Pochettino’s well drilled team are challenging for a top four place, this was seen as a good opportunity for three points. However, Arsenal were lucky to come out with at least a draw. Tottenham took the lead early in the match through Harry Kane and almost managed to maintain this advantage till the final whistle. Arsenal could have lost the game had it not been for the late equaliser from Kieran Gibbs. Henry believes that the game was lost in the first half when Arsenal allowed Tottenham to dictate the game too much. The former Arsenal striker believes that the home team should have taken the game to the opposition rather than the other way round.

As a result of the draw, City stay ahead of Arsenal but only on goal difference.“They came out in the second half with enough desire to win it, something that they did not have in the first half.I think that Tottenham played better than Arsenal, but ultimately when you know Manchester City have drawn a game and you can get two points ahead of them you have to take that opportunity and today they didn’t.Yes they didn’t play well but you have to manage to win these types of games,” said the former Arsenal striker.
