Duncan Castles says Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing the Manchester United job

Reputed football expert Duncan Castles has said that Mauricio Pochettino could be heading out of Tottenham Hotspur in the near future. The Argentine has come under immense pressure with the embarrassing defeats to Colchester United, Bayern Munich and Brighton & Hove Albion this term and there are claims that he could walk out of the club before the end of the campaign.

Speaking on The Transfer Window Podcast, Castles said that Pochettino has already made the decision to part ways with the north London giants and it is only a matter of time before that becomes a reality, he told: “The information I have from someone close to Pochettino is he has very much targeted a new job.

In his head, he has made the decision he will be moving on from Tottenham Hotspur. I think it’s dependent on how that finishes for him there, whether he sees out the season out or not. But he sees that he has run his course at Tottenham and is looking to move to a new club. And the club I’m told he is targeting at his next job is Manchester United.”

Pochettino was hugely applauded for taking Spurs to the Champions League final last term where they were eventually beaten by Liverpool. The Argentine has since been backed in the transfer market with a few quality additions but the club have not been able to sustain the form during the opening phase of the current campaign.

At present, Spurs are placed ninth on the table with a four-point gap to the Champions League places. They are scheduled to face Watford on the road after the international break and that offers them with an opportunity to return to winning ways after two matches. The Hornets are presently bottom of the pile with just three points and anything less than a victory for Spurs would surely present question marks whether Pochettino will continue at the helm.
